At the published US subscription price, three paid months cost $147, six cost $294 and nine cost $441. Your total depends on how many billing periods you need.
Budget for paid months, rather than treating the advertised monthly price as the price of the whole certificate.
Start with the billing model
Google lists $49 USD per month in the US and Canada after a seven-day trial. This is not a CAD quote. Google says prices in other countries may be lower; check the local enrollment options rather than converting the US example. The program is self-paced. Google describes six core courses and roughly 240 hours of learning; Coursera currently lists seven courses, including an additional AI job-search course. Those counts describe different scopes, rather than seven separate monthly charges.
| Paid months | Calculation | Subscription total |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 3 × $49 | $147 |
| 6 | 6 × $49 | $294 |
| 9 | 9 × $49 | $441 |
These are arithmetic scenarios, not measured completion averages or checkout quotes. Taxes, promotions and trial eligibility may change what you pay. A month in which you study very little can still be a paid billing period.
Turn your schedule into a budget
Use the provider’s workload estimate as a planning input, not a promise. Dividing 240 hours by ten hours per week gives 24 weeks; at five hours per week, the same calculation gives 48 weeks. Neither calculation guarantees completion, and weeks do not map exactly to subscription billing dates.
A practical plan needs room for revisions, difficult assignments and weeks away. Choose a conservative paid-month scenario and check it against your actual renewal date. Moving from the three-month to the six-month scenario adds $147, even though the course itself has not changed.
Does Coursera Plus reduce the price?
The current Coursera listing links its inclusion badge to Plus. Inclusion alone does not establish a saving: the result depends on the plan, duration and other courses you intend to take. Use the subscription comparison calculator with the individual rate above. Confirm inclusion again before paying.
Do not count a future course as a saving unless you would otherwise pay for it. Comparing a subscription against an imaginary full shopping basket can make an unnecessary purchase appear economical.
What this guide does not assess
This is a cost and structure guide based on published information. It does not rate teaching quality, difficulty or hiring outcomes. A course-completion certificate is also a different purchase from a separate professional certification exam; check the requirements of any role or credential you have in mind.
